Home Is Where The Heart Is

It’s been a long time coming. I was about 8 years old when I transplanted to Chicago. I spent my early childhood living a simple life in what most would consider a rural area in a small town in Puerto Rico. After permanently moving to Chicago and learning how to speak English, I went back to P.R nearly every summer until about the age of 18. It had been nearly 10 years since I visited my homeland. At the time of shooting these videos, I didn't put much thought into what I was capturing.

I had made it a personal goal of mine to learn how to use video editing software and challenged myself to create something. Anything. Just something to get my feet wet. I will admit that one of the main things that impeded me was the overwhelming feeling of opening up a new software program and seeing an unfamiliar interface.

With that being said, I opened up my hard drive to reflect back on this unforgettable trip and realized I had all this footage, and I had to try to do something with it. It’s not everything I wanted to capture, but it’s one goal I can mark off. Now I have the confidence to do something even better and absolutely will. I’ve made new goals and am already in the process of completing them. If you’re reading this, thank you! And I welcome any feedback you may have. Thanks for watching, and feel free to share.
